The Strymon Fairfax Class A Output Stage Drive is an analog overdrive pedal that faithfully recreates the sound and feel of a vintage 1960s tube amp’s Class A output stage using solid-state components. Unlike a typical distortion pedal, the Fairfax is designed to act as a natural-sounding, flexible drive that retains the clarity and character of the guitar. It features 100% analog circuitry and operates with 40V internal headroom for exceptional dynamic response, making it suitable for anything from a clean, harmonic boost to saturated, angular madness. Key controls include Drive and Level, along with a variable Sag control that can introduce subtle compression or intense, sputtering, and gated effects by un-biasing the preamp.
