Stereo Box ST-800
The Ibanez ST-800 Stereo Box is a rare, vintage analog effects pedal manufactured in Japan by Maxon between 1976 and 1978. Designed with a distinct orange or yellow finish and a compact aluminum enclosure, it serves a dual purpose as both a mono tremolo and a stereo panner. When used with a single output, the unit functions as a classic tremolo, utilizing a low-frequency oscillator (LFO) to modulate signal volume. When both outputs are engaged, it provides a dramatic "ping-pong" panning effect between two amplifiers. The pedal features a simple, user-friendly interface consisting of a single rotary knob to control the effect speed (ranging from 0.2Hz to 12Hz) and a push-push footswitch for activation. Highly regarded by collectors for its warm, organic pulses, the ST-800 is a precursor to the popular Boss PN-2. It operates strictly on a 9V battery, as it lacks an external power jack.
