SS20 Session Man II
The Ibanez SS20 Session-Man II is a rare, Japanese-made analog multi-effects pedal from the Power Series, produced between 1987 and 1993. It uniquely combines a high-gain distortion circuit—often compared to the Ibanez FC10 Fat Cat or a ProCo Rat—with a short-range analog delay (7ms to 70ms). This pink-finished pedal is designed to provide depth and presence beyond standard distortion, allowing for effects like doubling or "reverb" echo. A key feature is the Mode switch, which allows users to run the distortion and delay in either series or parallel. While the face of the pedal features controls for Distortion, Level, Tone, and Delay Time, it also includes two "hidden" internal trim pots accessible through the battery compartment to adjust delay feedback and mix. Celebrated by experimentalists for its "wacky" and unpredictable character, the SS20 is highly collectible due to its limited production and unique ability to create chaotic, metallic textures.
