Under the hypnotic purple-and-black vortex graphics lives the same circuit as the MXR WA44 Wylde Audio Overdrive — Zakk's modern take on the boosted-amp formula he has ridden since his Ozzy Osbourne days, when an SD-1-style overdrive slamming the front of a Marshall JCM800 defined the sound of 'No More Tears' and countless arena nights. The recipe is simple and brutal: Output, Tone and Gain, voiced with a tight low end and aggressive midrange push that turns an already-driven tube amp into a chainsaw with sustain for days.
