JL-70 Jetlyzer
The Ibanez JL-70 Jetlyzer is a rare and innovative vintage modulation pedal manufactured in Japan by Maxon between 1975 and 1977. Part of Ibanez's experimental golden era, it is far more than a standard phaser or flanger. The pedal combines a lush analog phase shifter with a dramatic, integrated "Jet" effect—a specialized noise-generator and frequency enhancer designed to emulate the roaring sound of a jet engine. Key technical features include four primary controls: Phase Speed, Feedback Depth, Jet Mixing, and Jet Tone. These allow musicians to dial in everything from subtle, warm sweeps to aggressive, spacey textures. The Jet Mixing control blends the signature turbulence into the signal, while the Jet Tone shapes the EQ of the effect. Highly prized by collectors for its unique "Itasha-style" funky orange aesthetic and "bizarre" sonic character, the Jetlyzer remains a standout example of 1970s Japanese engineering, offering experimental tones that go well beyond conventional modulation.
