White Whale Junior
The original White Whale was Greek builder Crazy Tube Circuits' love letter to the blackface-era American amp — real spring reverb and tube-driven tremolo in one box — and it earned a devoted following among surf, country and indie players. The problem was always size: real springs need real estate. The White Whale Junior solves that with what may be the world's smallest all-analog genuine three-spring reverb pedal, paired with an amp-style tremolo, in an enclosure that actually fits on a modern pedalboard. The key word is genuine. This is not a DSP simulation of springs — there is an actual miniature three-spring tank inside, driven and recovered by analog circuitry, producing the drippy, splashy, physically-resonant reverb that digital emulations still struggle to nail. Kick the pedal and it clangs, as nature intended. The tremolo side draws on optical and bias-modulation amp circuits, delivering the throbbing, asymmetric pulse of vintage combo amps rather than the sterile chop of budget tremolos. Independent footswitches let you run either effect alone, and the two together produce that unmistakable end-of-the-night ballad sound — Fender amp reverb dripping over a slow tremolo swell.
