Centaur Overdrive
The Behringer Centaur Overdrive is an affordable, all-analog tribute to the legendary 1990s-era Klon Centaur. Designed to deliver a transparent, "amp-like" tone, it excels as both a clean boost and a rich overdrive that preserves the natural character of the guitar and amplifier. The pedal features soft-clipping germanium diodes to replicate the smooth, musical saturation of the original circuit. Its dual-potentiometer gain control allows for precise mixing of clean and overdriven signals, while stepped-up internal voltage provides high headroom and an expanded dynamic range. Following its initial release, the product was rebranded as the Zentara or Centara due to intellectual property concerns. Despite its budget-friendly price point, the pedal maintains a robust housing with authentic vintage styling and includes a discrete buffered bypass to prevent high-frequency loss over long cable runs. Controls include Gain, Treble, and Output, making it a versatile tool for achieving classic rock and blues tones.
