Atoner
The 4ms Atoner is a delightfully unconventional pitch-shifting pedal that takes your guitar or electronic sound on a wild sonic journey. Rather than offering a simple octave-down effect, the Atoner revels in the unpredictable, blending pitch-shifting with chaotic, ever-shifting textures. At its core, the Atoner can drop your input by up to two octaves, but it's the way it does so that makes this pedal so captivating. An onboard LFO and envelope follower constantly modulate the pitch-shifting, creating a constantly evolving, almost organic sound. The "Height" knob allows you to dial in anything from subtle, glitchy pitch warbles to full-on, snarling low-end mayhem. What really sets the Atoner apart is its ability to generate complex, evolving chords and harmonies from a single note. By shifting the pitch in unpredictable ways, the pedal can conjure shimmering, ethereal pads one moment and grinding, discordant clusters the next. It's a pedal that rewards experimentation, inviting you to get lost in its unpredictable sonic landscapes. While the Atoner may not be for everyone, adventurous guitarists and sound designers have found it to be an invaluable tool for adding unique, left-of-center textures to their music. Its unconventional approach has earned it a cult following among musicians like noise artist Aaron Dilloway, who has used the Atoner to great effect in his haunting, atmospheric compositions.
